I have had the pleasure again of being a pattern tester for Straight Stitch Designs and worked on a size 20 of the upcoming View Ridge top. A cute tank with (optional) ruffles, yolk and shoulder details and a key hole in the back.
- Muslin it first, just to make sure the front pieces fit you (no need to add facing or button yet just look at fit).
- If you are larger than a B cup you may find cutting parts of the front in the next size up gives you enough wear ease in the chest.
- If you have a gather foot it may make the bottom come together faster. I haven’t tried yet.
The pattern is a fairly quick sew but it may be a bit of a fitting exercise for those of us with a larger bust or waist measurement. However I think it still has so many possibilities that should not be over looked. The shoulder, yolk, center front and sides could all be areas of interest. You could add contrasting fabrics, embroidered parts or seam details like rick rack, pipeing or reverse bobbin work. The pattern will have more options, like no ruffle on the high low hem or flutter sleeves. I found the ruffle to hit at a weird location on me but that’s genetics not pattern. I had a bit of a looser fit on my muslin and may go back to that as this one is fitted and I am wearing one of my less “rawhide” type bras the brown and tan long line version of Watson by Cloth Habit. I made this out of a Premium Quilt Cotton from JoAnn’s, embroidery floss in lime green for the reverse bobbin work and a vintage yellow button out of my stash.
